It's been 36 days since the Oregon Ducks and Auburn Tigers last stepped onto a football field and both teams say they are ready to prove to the world that they are the best team in college football! The Ducks have never won a national championship and they come into Mondays tilt with the Tigers with an impressive resume. They are a perfect 12-0, with wins over powerhouses such as, USC, Stanford, Tennessee and Arizona. LaMichael James, a heisman runner up, has had a spectacular year. He has rushed for 1,682 yards and 22 total scores and it would seem to me that he is going to play a crucial role Monday night if the Ducks plan on getting crowned national champs. Despite James, Quarterback Darron Thomas might be the most valuable player on the Ducks team! He has 3,000 total yards and 33 touchdowns. They run a no huddle offense 90% of the time so Auburn's endurance will be tested! On defense, Oregon has been very underrated. They are ranked 12th overall in the FBS for points against with 18.4 per game.
Auburn, the #1 ranked team in America, hasn't won a national championship since 1957 and they are lead by a heisman award winning quarterback Cam Newton. He has been under a lot of fire this year after it was found out that his dad had accepted improper benefits from boosters. But, as of right now, Newton is eligable to play monday night. During the regular season, Auburn had wins over Alabama, Arkansas, LSU and South Carolina to get into the Championship game. They are strong against the run but struggled against the pass. They allowed a 54th best, 24.5 points a game.
Come Monday night, I expect the offenses to start out slow and the defenses will dominate for a quarter, quarter and a half and then all hell will break loose. Look for the offenses to score a combined 38 points in the second half and this could be one of the most entertaining games of the bowl season! When it's its all said and done, I predict that College Football with crown the Oregon Ducks national champions after a 38-27 victory.
I really like the picture you have painted. I am now very excited to watch this game. I am hoping for an even higher scoring game than what you expect and an Oregon victory. I think however, that Tigers are stronger than Ducks!
