While Roger Goodell is still trying to figure out how to punish Mike Trescher for his Bears windbreaker scandal, another story broke out. Tom Brady's invincibility spell finally wore off. Three playoff losses in a row and in all of them Brady struggled. What is it about the playoffs for Tom Brady? He used to be "money" in big games, now you have to wonder if he'll ever get back to a point where he can win a big game. Watching Tom Brady struggle in the cold, wearing what looks to be a wet suit makes you wonder if he has gone soft. The young Tom Brady didn't need a full face mask type winter hat, he just went out in the snow and won. Has Tom Brady turned into a "pretty boy"? With model wife and oddly Justin Bieberish hair, it makes you wonder if he cares as much as he once did? The Jets got pressure on Brady and really took him out of his game. Rex Ryan did a great job of getting in Brady's head. Brady wasn't very accurate and the jacked up Jets defense really made him look like a guy who didn't win 3 Super Bowl rings. Its not all his fault. Not every team has their best receiver traded early in the year. For the Patriots to get back to winning a Super Bowl the team might need to give Brady some offensive line and receiver help. They'll keep meeting the rough and tough teams like the Jets, Ravens and Steelers so they'll need to adapt to that style. If not, Brady might never get another ring to go with his Bieberish haircut.
Consider this, it was the fluky tuck rule that started it all for the Patriots. That moment in time changed the fortune of the team and things have been pretty good ever since. What I am saying is that Brady was never quite as good as he appeared to be but is still as good as ever. He had some good luck and great teammates around him. Now, with luck no longer on his side and a team that is actually rebuilding, they still had a the best record in the NFL. Tom Brady is keeping it together in New England even though he has lost weapons and the Defense is no longer very good.
ReplyDeleteWhen Cleveland beat them and then a Matt Flynn led Packer team almost did, that should have given us some warning. As I predicted, the Patriots did not make the Superbowl, but I did not think the Jets would take them out. Tom Brady is still a great one!
