The Green Bay Packers overcame some early mistakes and totally dominated the Atlanta Falcons to the tune of 48-21.
442-194 in total yards, 346-149 passing, 96-45 rushing, 38min-22min in Time of Possession, and the turnover battle 4-1.
Aaron Rodgers was 31/36 for 366 and 3 TD's and also rushed for a touchdown.
Tramon Williams had two interceptions, the first one in the endzone (pictured on the right) and the other one was a pick 6.
These are two players that were snubbed from the Pro Bowl but no matter, they are now just one step away from a much better bowl. They will be voted all-pro when it is all over!
There is not a lot more to say about this game. It was awesome to watch as a Packer fan but I felt that my preview was unbiased when I predicted a simple 24-20 victory. I was thinking of much bigger things but who could have predicted it would go this well? I can't hold back my excitement for this team. I felt all season like the Packers would be in the Superbowl and now it looks like a near certainty. In the AFC I was wrong with the Chargers pick from the start and wrong with the Ravens pick I made when the playoffs started but I do know my NFC. The cream has finally risen to the top.
Years like this don't happen often so you can bet I am going to enjoy it. I also love the way the Packer fans took over the Georgia Dome tonight. To all Packer fans out there, saver this!
These are the good days!
It's time to admit that the Packers are better than people give them credit for and that Ted Thompson just might know what he is doing, even though he has the personality of a stump and that Mike McCarthy just might be a better coach than people think as well. The Packers clearly showed that they are the best team in the NFC. Does that guarantee they win next week? Absolutely not, but I like their chances.
ReplyDeleteMike and especially Paul,
It might be time to swallow your pride and admit that you were wrong, or you can swallow crow if that goes down easier.
I like the philosophy of not going after the big time free agents and ending up in a bidding war. They are proving that you don't need to over pay for a T.O. or Randy Moss even if it appears that they would be a perfect fit. We as fans are not going to told the whole story about a player.
ReplyDeleteApparently there was an issue with Lynch, or else he wold be a Packer right now. Didn't make sense from an outsider at the time.
How might this affect next years potential lockout. The Packers are in the championship game with many starters and high price players on IR. Will be interesting to see what happens.
I have to give you credit Trescher, good prediction. The Packers have been confusing all season. It seems as though they tend to overlook games and play up or down to the level of their competition but in the playoffs with everything on the line they have played two very solid games. At this point I would have to say they are the NFC favorite to make the Super bowl.
ReplyDeleteWith that being said I still believe the AFC is a much stronger conference. I picked Pittsburgh to come out of the AFC and feel that the Steelers and Patriots are better than any NFC team but if Matt Flynn showed us anything it's that anything is possible. The Packers are playing much better than they were when they faced New England and, barring significant injuries next week, they will be at full strength for the Super bowl if they win which, regardless of the opponent, they should.
Thanks Paul. I am glad you are willing to give me some credit where some others still are not. I hope you will write something about the games that were played today. I only saw them off and on as we were having a birthday party for my daughter here today.
ReplyDeleteWith a Final Four now of Jets, Steelers, Packers, and Bears I really think we have a situation where any of the four teams could win it all. I would like to see Superbowl XLV have a result of Packers over Jets!!!
I never expected the margin of victory to be that great on Saturday night. So many players contributed to the victory!! I just keep telling myself not to get ahead of it all. We know the Bears-we know we can beat them, but this is what we need to focus on. It seems that some teams see beyond their current opponent (Saints and Patriots), and that is when games are lost. Go Pack!!
