This game started out very slowly as the defenses were determined to flex thier muscles. However, the scoreless tie was broke when Peyton Manning found Pierre Garcon in the second quarter for a 57 yard touchdown pass. The Colts went to the half with a 7-0 lead. At this point, Sanchez looked terrible and I wasn't sure he had what it took to bring his team back.
The Jets came out in the 2nd half on a mission! They were determined to run it down the Colts throat and score 2 rushing touchdowns on thier first two possessions, courtsey of Ladainian Tomlison . Mark Sanchez struggled all day and only threw for 189 yards, no touchdowns and one interception! Thank god, Ladainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene showed up today as they combined the run the ball 35 times for a robust 152 yards. Late in the 4th quarter, the Colts took over the ball with 2:43 remaining and I remember thinking that Peyton is going to do what he does best and take his team down the field for a winning score and thats exactly what he did. The problem was, he left too much time on the clock, 53 seconds to be exact! Very uncharacteristic for Peyton. After struggling all day, I was shocked to see Sanchez march his team down and put his team in position for a 32 yard FG. Nick Folk nailed it and the Jets move on.
The Jets sealed thier fate and now they get rewarded with a trip to Foxboro! Yikes, that sounds like a suicide mission to me. But, this is the National Football League and you never know, they could pull a Seattle and shock the world! I hope Sunday's games are as thrilling as todays games!

Great recap Jamie!
ReplyDeleteThe Colts never would have settled for the Field Goal but the Jets stopped them. Peyton said the plan was to score a Touchdown and run out the clock so give the credit to New York.
The Colts made a mistake calling a timeout on defense during the final minute when the Jets had the ball but no matter how you look at it, the Jets earned this victory. I need to quit underrating them. Hopefully Brad Smith can play next week but they overcame that injury today as well.
No playoff upset could be as big as Seattle over New Orleans. I think the Jets have a real good shot at beating the Patriots next week.
If Sanchez plays well, the Jets are more balanced than any other team Offensivly. The Special Teams is very good, and the Defense realy showed today how good they are!
