Expectations are high for 2011 Brewers
From time to time, I have flashbacks from 1992! I was 13 years old and and I remember babysitting my nephew and watching Robin Yount make diving catches in centerfield and Chris Bosio on the mound as the Brewers ace. That team also had Gantner, Molitor and Greg Vaughn. That Brewers team ended up winning 92 games and I remember thinking winning 92 games is easy and I should expect this from the Brewers every year. Well, its 18 years later and I'm still waiting for the Brewers to win 92 games again. The reason I bring the '92 season up is because that year, the Milwaukee Brewers made me fall in love with them for the first time. Ever since that time, they have broken my heart more times than all of my ex-girlfriends put together! Fastforward to 2011 and my expectations have never been higher. We have the best starting rotation since 1992 and we have an offense to go along with that starting pitching!! On paper, this team should reach the 92 wins that I have been waiting for 18 years.

For me it goes all the way back to the late 70's and early 80's with going to the World Series in 1982 as the greatest memory. My memory of that team is so strong that I did not even remember that the '92 team won 92 games. Molitor, Gantner, and Yount were much younger in 1982 and no Brewer team has been quite as good since.
ReplyDeleteThe Brewers have existed for four decades now and have still never won a World Series but this just might be the year!
I hope Greinke and Marcum don't disappoint and I hope Randy Wolf plays like he did in the 2nd half and not the first half of the season! Go Brew Crew!!
ReplyDeleteThats music to my ears mott...The only way I think this team underachieves is if they have a ton of injuries!
