Is it time to rebuild or do we still have enough talent to retool and make a run in 2013?
Ryan Braun is under contract for years yet so I say RETOOL, give Zack Greinke a long term deal NOW, it will cost a lot but without him the Brewers will not be able to contend in 2013!
Nice post Trescher! I agree if you can lock Greinke in long term you do it. That's a no brainer. The problem is that he may want to opt for free agency and the worse the team plays the less likely he is to want to be locked in.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that I do not think 2012 is lost yet. Yes they have played poorly and dug a hole. Right now the focus has to be on getting back to .500 by the all star break. After that anything can happen. Look at St. Louis last season. I'm sire their fans were asking the same questions in August with Pujols up for free agency but the team never gave up, got hot at the right time and got enough help from Atlanta to sneak into the playoffs and then run the table. That seems to be a trend lately. The hottest team late seems to win so I would rather not have the Brewers peak too early like they seemed to last season. It is also worth noting that there is an extra playoff spot this season. I completely agree that they have their work cut out for them if they want to get into the post season but I'm not quite ready to write them off yet. They have too much talent and I still believe that at some point Weeks will get going and Hart and Ramirez will get hot.

WOW, so you see hope yet this season? Interesting!
